Thank you Bareilly…for showering your love and trust on us. We also raised your voice at every opportunity. Raised your problems. Standing with you in every phase. Without this this journey of 55 years would not have been possible. Lord Bhuvan Bhaskar became radiant during Makar Sankranti and Bareilly, the heartland of western Uttar Pradesh, also became illuminated with his light. It was an auspicious time on 17 January 1969 when Amar Ujala, becoming a symbol of sunlight, illuminated the entire Rohilkhand and Kumaon with Bareilly as its centre. At that time Uttarakhand state and Moradabad division were not formed.

Amar Ujala’s journey continues to grow after the launch of Bareilly Unit

Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Badaun, Moradabad, Bijnor and Rampur, all these seven districts came under Rohilkhand. However, Dorilal Aggarwal ji and Murarilal Maheshwari ji had already started publishing Amar Ujala from Agra on 18 April 1948. Only after becoming the leading newspaper of Agra, a plan was made to start the publication of Amar Ujala from other metros of Uttar Pradesh also. Bareilly was selected.

Old office of Amar Ujala in Prem Nagar

Amar Ujala’s founders Dorilal Aggarwal ji and Murarilal Maheshwari ji came here several times before starting the publication from Bareilly. Took suggestions from prominent citizens, politicians and academicians. A suitable site for the office was searched which ended up at Khanna ji’s building opposite Trivatinath Temple on McNear Road in Premnagar.
